Juan Ayllon;  So how is training going?

ANDREI:  I started training hard.  The second week when I started training three times a day.

Juan Ayllon:  Where are you in this stage of your training?  How would you describe this section of your training?

ANDREI:  I don’t understand.

Juan Ayllon:  Okay. Is this just kind of like the ease-in period?  You said you weren’t sparring yet.

ANDREI:  I have 2 months to rest up to my next fight. Um, right now I train step by step. In a few weeks I start training twice.  After that I have to spar and train hard for my next title fight against Paul Buentello.

Juan Ayllon:  Okay, and how do you spell that last name again?

ANDREI:  Paul Buentello.

Juan Ayllon:  Okay, great.  Now are you working with weights now?

ANDREI:  Yeah, I started working with weights.  I finish maybe in September.  I start only boxing and running.

Juan Ayllon:  Okay, so you do the weight training earlier and then you stop for a period of time?

ANDREI:  Yeah, for example, today I lift weights and I run at 8 in the morning.  When I get back I have half a box of franks and more. That is my breakfast.

Juan Ayllon:  Okay, now how would you describe your weights?  Do you do sets of 12, 20 reps?

ANDREI:  I’m doing every group of my muscles once a week I do them.  5 days a week I run.  I do the same program that I do before my fight.  The same just mild.

Juan Ayllon:  Okay, okay, great. How’s your diet coming along?  How are you doing with diet right now?

ANDREI:  I only eat fruits, vegetables, chicken, fish and meat; that’s it.  And after my weight, I drink a protein shake.

Juan Ayllon:  Okay.  Now as far as your conditioning for your abdominals, what do you do?  Okay, and I saw you doing some sit-ups, some leg raises, and some other things.  Is that a normal part of your regimen?  Okay.  What you were doing there, is that normally what you do?

ANDREI:  Yeah, I’m doing abs every time in the morning after my drink.  Okay, I’m doing that 3 times a day.

Juan Ayllon: Okay, and how many times a week do you train right now?

ANDREI:  Right now, I train 5-6 days a week and 3 times a day for 6 times a week.

Juan Ayllon:  Okay.  How far are you running right now?

ANDREI:  I’m running 35 minutes.  I don’t know how many miles.  I try running faster and slow, then faster for 35 minutes.

Juan Ayllon:  Okay. Now this next opponent that you’ll be fighting, do you have much information on him?  Have you viewed any tapes?

ANDREI:  Not yet, right now I don’t have his tape. But pretty soon I will try to find his fight.  I know about he is supposed to be a pretty good striker.  He hits forward and won 3 of his last 5 fights at UFC.   He has won my last opponent, Justin Eilers.  He knock him out.  He is a very good striker and uh, he’s a dangerous fighter. I need to watch his hands, he has a very fast curve and he’s very good.

Juan Ayllon:  Al right, and when will you start sparring?

ANDREI:   I’ll most likely start sparring next week.

Juan Ayllon:  Okay. Any predictions on this next

fight?

ANDREI:   I will win my next fight.  It’s a very important fight for me.  I must, I think that I can fight against Frank Mir, but he said no.  But now I have fight against Paul Buentello.  If I win my next fight, I think that I meet Frank Mir in the next championship.

Juan Ayllon:   And when do you think you’ll be fighting Frank Mir?

ANDREI:   It’s hard to say.  I want to fight Frank Meir.  Three or 4 weeks ago, his manager said he would gladly fight me, he wanted to fight with me, but last week he said no, he said give him more time.

Juan Ayllon:   Okay. Great, well thanks so much.
